Patients’ Rights and Responsibilities
Yezel Clinic, committed to putting patients first and becoming a patient-centered hospital for patients, declares the following rights, responsibilities, and duties of patients.
1. Patients’ Rights
A. Right to receive medical care
Patients have the right to receive appropriate health-care services for the protection and promotion of their health, shall not have their health rights infringed due to sex, age, religion, status, or economic circumstances, and medical personnel may not refuse treatment without just cause.
B. Right to know and right to self-determination
Patients are entitled to receive sufficient explanations from their attending physician, nurses, etc. about their disease status, treatment methods, whether they are subjects of medical research,
whether organ transplantation is involved, anticipated side effects, outcomes, and medical costs, may ask detailed questions, and have the right to decide whether to consent.
C. Right to confidentiality
Patients shall not have their bodily and health-related secrets or privacy violated in connection with medical care,
and medical personnel and institutions must not disclose or divulge such secrets without the patient’s consent, except as provided by law (e.g., criminal investigations).
D. Right to request consultation and mediation
In the event of a dispute related to medical services, patients may request consultation and mediation from the Korea Medical Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Agency, etc.
2. Patients’ Duties
A. Duty to trust and respect medical personnel
Patients must accurately inform medical personnel of their health information and trust and respect their treatment plans.
B. Duty not to receive care by improper means
Patients must identify themselves before treatment and must not receive care by false or improper means, such as under another person’s name.
